Richmond rolls past Morehead State, 65-48

The Richmond Spiders had no problems rolling past the upstart Morehead State Eagles, 65-48.

Richmond jumped out to an early lead and never really let Morehead get to within striking distance in the second half.

Justin Harper bounced back from a disappointing opening round performance to finish with 19 points and six rebounds.

Kevin Anderson didn’t have a great day from the field, but still managed 14 points and four assists. (Read More…)

Richmond stuns Vanderbilt, 69-66

The Richmond Spiders pulled off the typical 5-12 upset with a 69-66 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Kevin Anderson helped to single-handedly carry the Spiders on a day when Justin Harper was not at his best.

Anderson finished with 25 points while Harper scored 13 and grabbed just four rebounds on only 4-12 from the field.

Give Richmond’s matchup zone a lot of credit for holding Vanderbilt to just six made three-point shots. (Read More…)

Spiders spring upset of Vanderbilt in NCAA tourney

The Richmond Spiders are known for causing mayhem in the NCAA tournament, and they added another chapter to that legacy on Thursday.

Kevin Anderson’s 25 points and critical late jumper helped lift the No. 12-seeded Spiders to a 69-66 upset of Vanderbilt in the Southwest Regional in Denver. (Read More…)

Richmond gets past Dayton, 67-54

The Richmond Spiders assured themselves of a spot in the Big Dance with a 67-54 victory over the Dayton Flyers.

Kevin Anderson scored 23 points to lead Richmond, which jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

Heading into the Atlantic 10 tournament, the Spiders were considered squarely on the bubble for an NCAA tournament berth.

However, they took the matter out of the selection committee’s hands and into their own by gaining the automatic berth. (Read More…)
